"My evolution into the arts started as a small child enchanted by color. My collection of crayons, markers, pencils, and paints could prove it! I still marvel in the hues of nature, and the ability of color to transcend all communication barriers. Prior to dyeing yarns and fibers, I dyed textiles for many years. Nothing without color has ever been safe with me!

My other artistic interests include: knitting, spinning, clothing design, photography, cooking, organic gardening, sewing, jewelery making, pottery, and graphic arts. There is always a new skill on the horizon, it's the only way I keep myself entertained and challenged." -Angelina

 
A word about animal health and fiber choices:
European fleeces are my first choice always. Animal care wellness practices and standards are leaps and bounds ahead of "standard" world wide. We actively boycott products who do not adhere to the most basic tenets of caring for living creatures: health, compassion, and comfort.
 
Zen String remains committed to whole planet healing. It is for this reason we choose natural fibers, environmentally responsible and sustainable practices, and promote peace and wellness in all personal and business pursuits. We use only Earth-friendly products in production of yarns and fibers including biodegradable organic soaps. We recycle and reuse boxes and shipping materials. Should you prefer to receive your yarns unwrapped/unbagged, simply let us know in the comments section.

What happened to Zen String? TOP
We haven't gone away, just changed names! You will notice all yarn and fiber aspects are the same as Zen String. Upon expanding into my other crafty loves of fabric and hand made we simply felt the need for a name change. Our commitment to beautiful creations and our expanded family of friends and customers remain!

Can I order your products for my retail store? TOP
Due to a growing family and expanded family commitments, I no longer dye for  retailers. However, I am happy to dye for those special occasions such as yarn/fiber clubs!  Please contact me to make those arrangements.

Do you supply to co-ops/group buys? TOP
Depending on my dye schedule, I do accept group buys at a 20% discount. Please contact me for further information and guidelines. Please understand that these are restricted to a very few per year.

Do you accept custom requests? TOP
Usually custom orders are not a problem, but depends on dye schedules. Do email and we'll see what we can work out!

I'm always happy to try out a new colorway or yarn/fiber/fabric. However, please do not ask me to duplicate another dye artists' work. I will happily create colorways based on your descriptions and pictures for inspiration.

What is your return policy? TOP

As all computer monitors vary, no returns will be accepted for display discrepancies.

Returns are generally unaccepted. Should you have a problem with your order, please contact me promptly.

I am happy to provide high quality photographs for approval prior to shipping on custom dyed products. I am also glad to answer any questions you may have about particular fibers/yarns/fabrics and colorways before purchase.

We are absolutely committed to complete customer satisfaction.


What is kettle dyeing? TOP

Kettle dyeing is ultimately dyeing fibers/yarns in one container. The result is a bit different from traditional hand painting. This is my personal favorite method, and also the most unpredictable. The finished garment moves through colors softly, with little to no "pooling" (when colors pattern in large shapes together). (in fabric this method is sometimes known as 'low water immersion')

Please remember that there are no dyelots, and no 2 products will be identical. This is the serendipitous nature of hand dyeing. If there is a great difference in your yarns, please alternate skeins while crafting. Ordering all the yarn you will need for your project will greatly improve the variations between skeins.  This is not a concern when working with fabrics or unspun fibers.

What are 'watercolor series' products? TOP
These are colorways that are truly unique!
Each product, though dyed in lots, is as individual as a snowflake! The dyes are applied like watercolor paints, moving through the yarn/fibers and each color in its own distinct way. I have used these yarns successfully without alternating skeins, as they rarely repeat the same mix of color within the same skein. These are my very favorite colorways for depth and texture.


My hand dyed product has spots. Is it defective? TOP
No! Color bursts are an inherent part of hand dyeing. (fiber or fabric, in fact!) Some dyes simply "burst" with color while setting. Not all dyes do this, but it is not a defect of dyeing. You will find a great explanation of this in many dye suppliers' catalogs for further understanding of individual dye molecule properties. Please remember that hand dyeing is an art, not a mechanical process. There are many variations and pleasant surprises along the way! (for example, some browns burst red and blue... some pinks burst purple and green!) Relax and enjoy the serendipity of your hand made creations!

Can I make things for resale using your fabrics/embroidery designs? TOP
Absolutely! All designs and fabrics belonging to Wildflower Whimsy are meant to share and delight! We appreciate credit and a link to where you purchased your supplies of course.

For all other
quilting fabrics, please check with the manufacturer listed on the selvage for this information.
Wildflower Whimsy holds no liability should you choose not to seek this information.

Do your prices really include shipping? TOP
Yes! All prices include domestic (USA) shipping! We extend a discount to our international neighbors with reduced shipping as well.

Should you require expedited shipping (Priority, Express, etc), please make note in the comments box of your order. We are happy to accommodate these requests for a small charge.

All in stock products are shipped at least twice weekly.

My package is lost, can I get a refund? TOP
Once your package has left our care, we are no longer liable for lost, misdirected, or damaged packages. We are happy to insure your shipments upon request. If your package was insured, we are happy to help with recovery.

All packages leaving our care have delivery confirmation services attached. This is NOT a tracking service, however. You will always recieve an email notification of package processing with this number. International mail services do not offer delivery confirmation, but do have traceable customs numbers.
